1/144 HG Gundam Astray Red Flame (Flight Unit)

From Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY ASTRAY R, Lowe Guele’s MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame joins the HG GUNDAM SEED line as #58 with its distinctive Flight Unit. This 2013 release is a substantially renewed 1/144 Red Frame rather than a simple reissue of the earlier HG kit, using the newer Astray construction introduced with the HG Blue Frame Second L for improved proportions, articulation and colour separation.

The removable Flight Unit is based on equipment developed for the M1 Astray and modified for use by Lowe’s Red Frame. The kit reproduces the Red Frame’s sliding backpack arrangement so the Flight Unit can be attached while retaining the original backpack, or removed completely to display the mobile suit in its normal configuration. Movable wings and booster sections give the backpack a more dynamic silhouette, while dedicated mounting points allow the beam rifle and shield to be carried on the Flight Unit when not in use.

Red Frame’s signature Gerbera Straight katana is included with a separate scabbard and can be stored at the waist for sword-drawing poses. The kit also provides the standard beam rifle, shield and two beam sabers, plus the memorable BuCUE Tactical Reconnaissance Type head from SEED MSV Astray, which Lowe temporarily used as a hand-held twin-beam-saber weapon. Together with the upgraded articulation, this gives the kit a broad range of ground-combat and aerial display options straight from the box.
