In the world of scale model kits, almost all amateur and professional builders know about GodHand, a Japanese manufacturing company, established in 2010 that specialises in hobby tools and crafting supplies. They became popular amongst enthusiasts when they released the GodHand Ultimate Nipper (now simply referred to as ‘God Hands’), which is a single edged nipper that revolutionised scale model building by allowing a cleaner, more sharper cut on plastic runners. It reduced time building model kits, spending less time sanding nubs and stress marks. They became a staple in almost every enthusiasts tool box.
Even after over a decade of the Ultimate Nippers (still touted as the best amongst builders), God Hands have now recently announced a new addition to the single edge nipper range, enter the GH-LTN-120 Lightning Nippers.
These are said to be even sharper and thinner than the current model, and only aimed at the most professional scale model user. Word has it from distributors, that only one person is currently qualified enough to manufacture the Lighting Nipper, so production is extremely slow and each pair is hand crafted and inspected before being allowed to go on sale. There are even warning labels that come with purchasing them stating ‘single-edged expert only’.
Currently available for pre-order only in Japan, the Lightning Nipper will also come at an increased price of around 20%. They really are only aimed at the most serious of builders, due to their fragility and specific nature of use.
