Are Gundam Assemble And The Gundam Card Game Connected?

Are Gundam Assemble And The Gundam Card Game Connected?

The year 2025 has been an amazing year for Gundam, gunpla and the Universal Century more broadly.

Besides the launch of the highly anticipated GQuuuuuuX series, a new Perfect Grade Unleashed kit and a new interaction of the largely Gundam-led Super Robot Wars series, two brand new collectable games have been unveiled that are remarkably interconnected.

The first of these is the highly anticipated Gundam Card Game, with four starter decks being rolled out in July 2025 to critical acclaim not only with mecha fans but the collectable card game community more broadly.

As well as this, an interesting new grid-based tabletop game called Gundam Assemble has also been launched, using remarkably detailed two-inch tall gunpla to engage in a mix of battle situations both from the Universal Century itself and from the realm of imagination.

The tiny gunpla, which could almost be considered Assemble-grade (AG?), are unpainted, which means that people used to the multicoloured sprues and stickers of conventional gunpla may need to invest in some miniature paint to get the most authentic results. They also lack articulation but can be customised.

There is a fascinating interconnection between both of these games and gunpla in general.

There is absolutely nothing besides space stopping any mecha fan with a big enough collection from creating a giant map and using five-inch HG, seven-inch MG or even 12-inch PG to play the same game with the same rules.

However, the most fascinating connection is between the Gundam Card Game and Assemble, as the four starter decks also come with three of the tiny Assemble-grade Gunpla which can act as unit tokens to further enhance the playing experience.

Gundam is not necessarily the first series to do this, but previous attempts, such as Heroclix and Dungeon Dice Monsters, lacked the solid foundation and popularity that Gundam and the gunpla hobby as a whole possess.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the GCG, so follow us for more exciting news about availability and the launch of a new generation of Gundam games.
